HATS OFF TO SYLVIA- On Friday night, April 22, the entire community had an opportunity to celebrate the many accomplishments of Sylvia. This is a recent posting from the PFT web site: Sylvia Wilson – Selected as Labor’s Woman of the Year by the Allegheny County Labor Council The Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers is pleased to announce that Sylvia C. Wilson, Assistant to PFT President Al Fondy, has been selected as Labor’s Woman of the Year by the Allegheny County Labor Council. The PFT is especially proud that Sylvia is receiving this honor, because she is the first woman to receive this recognition from the Labor Council. Sylvia will be honored at a dinner to be held at the Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel on Friday, April 22, 2005. The PFT is proud to report that more than 500 participants turned out to celebrate the accomplishments of our own Sylvia C. Wilson. Among many of our labor colleagues who celebrated Sylvia's special night were: Bill George, President of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, and Jack Shea, of the Allegheny County Labor Council, who remarked, "If you could ever pick a sister- Sylvia is the sister you would pick." Sylvia was introduced to the assembled well-wishers by John Tarka of the PaFT. Sylvia is the personification of what truly dedicated women and men can accomplish and the Allegheny County Labor Council commemorated her accomplishments in Grand Style on Friday night. We are all so proud of you Sylvia.
