PFT “Summer Reading -‘06”

For the fourth consecutive year the PFT
has been a sponsor and supporter of the
Carnegie Library Summer Reading Program.

Rufus Jordan, PFT Vice President handed out
a variety of PFT “customized” materials including
a beautifully done book entitled,
“Helping your Child Become a Reader.”

The PFT hand out items were very popular
with students and parents alike.

A small part of the more than 3,000 visitors
to the “Summer Reading –‘06” event on the lawn
next to the Carnegie Library in Oakland.

PFT member Lori Carmody Lane, Oni Greco,
Zachary Lane, and Kevin Berry stopped at
the PFT booth.

PFT member Renee Fox from Martin Luther King
(K-7) came by the PFT booth.

Activity books, “Be Kid Smart” information kits,
piggy banks, “Helping Your Child Become a Reader”
and the ever-popular “animal” pens were
among the PFT hand-outs available.

Radio Disney’s “Rockin’ Renee” leads
youngsters in a popular dance.

These youngsters were too young for
dancing but they did enjoy the PFT
“Animal Pens.”

Music, food and family-fun is the
order-of-the-day at the “Summer Reading”
kick-off.

Trying to decide on a bear pen and eat a
Push-Up at the same time can be a problem.

This mom decided to introduce her young
daughter to reading with a helpful PFT book.

Dancing and other activities lasted
from noon to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 11.

During the Summer Reading Kick-off,
the PFT handed out several hundred
items that bore the PFT logo.
