Founding of the Retirement Chapter

Late in 1987, Albert Fondy asked Sylvia Wilson to assist in founding a PFT retirees group. Organizational meetings were held and a constitution formulated. Roselynn Norwood, Chris Romanus, Albert Schnupp, and Jean Schoentag, met with Sylvia during the summer and fall.

On February 12, 1988, a meeting was held at Duranti’s. Nominations were received for Executive Board offices and a mail ballot election was held in April. Serving as the acting Executive Board until their installation in May were: Bernard Gmys, President; Albert Schnupp, Vice President; Marguerite Benson, Corresponding Secretary; Marion Levant, Recording Secretary; Boyd Kimberling, Treasurer; and At-Large Members, Kaye Kimberling, Joseph Sarcone, and Jean Schoentag. Committees were organized and the constitution was revised. Vacancies occurred and were filled by: Mary Buick, Corresponding Secretary; Martha Kunkle, Treasurer; and Roselynn Norwood, At-Large Member.

Since the founding of the Retirement Chapter in 1988, Jean Schoentag, Bill Nice, Ruth Mallinger, and Marge Lindquist have served as President. The Chapter now has over 400 members. Dues have remained at $30/year since 1988.
