Congratulations and thanks to all Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers’ members and Pittsburgh Public School Employees and friends who participated in the Relay for Life that was held at Brashear High School on Saturday, May 16. Despite the rainy weather, everyone in attendance had a wonderful time as they promoted cancer awareness, celebrated cancer survivors, honored loved ones lost to cancer, and raised money to continue cancer research to combat this horrible disease that has touched us all in one way or another. The staff and students of Brashear High School did so much to add to the success of this day. By the end of the Relay on Saturday, approximately $18,000 was raised by our event. Monetary donations are still being accepted. Checks should be made out to the American Cancer Society and sent to Mary VanHorn at the PFT. Everyone is looking forward to the Second Annual Relay for Life next year.
